Notice the apparent loops. I had never seen that before. It really must be a 2D illusion. The lightning started out much farther away and then headed towards the island. The loop is really a small spiral still headed down to earth. Thanks to my friend Terry who was a weather specialist in the Air Force for pointing this out.
